AIAC is an international workshop for architecture students including a student competition. In 2018 the workshop week (March 5-9, 2018) was held at the State Academy of Fine Arts an Design Stuttgart. Ten universities took part with 100 students and professors from various AIAC delegations worldwide.
The events program included the presentation of the design topic with a site inspection, input lectures, a city tour and work in thematic workshops. A building plot in the Nordbahnhof district next to the Rosenstein development area was chosen as the subject of the subsequent design studio. This area is available for future development due to the construction of the Stuttgart 21 station project, which is laying the entire train infrastructure underground. The plot was therefore considered as a connection point between existing structures and future development.
I worked as a student assistant along academic assistant Katharina Köglberger and fellow student Dennis Ewert on the concept, preparation, implementation, summary and documentation of the AIAC 2018 workshop week. In addition to the financial and programmatic organisation, I participated in the communication and support of our guests. A large part of our commitment was also in the thematic preparation of the design studio and teaching materials.
