CERAMIC

WORK AS AN ARCHITECTURESTUDENT
The designed ceramic is an attempt to interpret the process of extrusion in the Swabian way. A Swabian spaetzle press is used, which serves as an extruder for the clay mass. By using simple, square negative forms, the focus of the work is on the randomly created structures of the extruded clay mass. Depending on the amount of clay, dense or loose structures are created.
WhWhile the first production step of the tiles empathises the development process, the second step of applying a glaze onto the tiles alienates its development process. The process disappears and the glaze lifts the ceramic to another aesthetic appearance. The use of an effect glaze intensifies this procedure and brings out further properties of the ceramic surface.
