MALECÒN 681

WORK AS AN ARCHITECTURESTUDENT
Entered the contest of AIAC (Atelier International d‘Architecture Construite) and achieved a honourable mention – with study trips to Havana, Cuba and Hyderabad, India.

A land which was governed over 50 years by the same president Fidel Castro and impaired under the same political as well as under the same economic regulations is striving for a change. It comes as little surprise that many young Cubans are trying to emigrate. They want to have a better life elsewhere especially in the US. The older generation is left. At once the tourism in Cuba is booming what denotes a lot to Cuba and the Cuban economy.
Looking at the conditions between young and old as well as between locals and tourists there are many possibilities and new connections to draw hope and to avail an opportunity. These prospects are leading to a potential approach. Hoping for chances – upcoming odds – asking for new structures! This consideration is providing a basis for the concept of Malecón 681.
What is the way to get young and old together? How they can be linked together? What about inserting tourists into a Cuban community? Will there be a collective? Is it possible to develop a community center? An impulse for the city?
The building – Malecón 681 – should be supported by traditional and architectural principles but these should be reinterpreted and lead to a new form.
