THEATRE

WORK AS AN ARCHITECTURESTUDENT
„I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being„ – Oscar Wilde
The theatre intends to support the relationship of actors and audience – so they should ask themselves who is the audience and who is the actor? According to this the actors are not the real protagonists in this moment, rather the audience are turning into the protagonists. By separating the theater in two secluded parts it guides the people through the evening. The foyer has not only the function of staging the audience but also to welcome everyone. Arriving at the proscenium the people switch in the role of the audience and the actors are the protagonists.
The form to the theater reflects the play between real and unreal – audience and protagonists. Hence it imitates the traditional picture stage in both parts – just the covering is different. As the proscenium is a opak room, the foyer is permeable – that means that the foyer has got views to the surroundings like the viaduct and the river. Last but not least the theater covering is made like a folded plate to have a better acoustics and reminding of a theatre curtain. According to this the building is constructed out of timber panels which are force-fit interconnected. The timber panels make a temporary building possible, what means that you can set it up again and again – everywhere you want.
